Nefertiti Asanti Martin
Nefertiti Asanti Martin is the Institutional Giving Manager, where they work to develop compelling proposals and donor relationships in support of Destiny Arts Center. Originally from the Bronx, NY, Nefertiti joined Destiny in July 2021.
Nefertiti believes in creative, embodied expression as a vehicle for healing and transforming our society.
For over a decade, Nefertiti has worked with organizations in the Bay Area and New York City to advance equity and social justice, including Girls for Gender Equity, Community United Against Violence and Color Of Change. Nefertiti’s work has spanned addressing gender-based violence, racial and economic justice and youth leadership development. In addition to their work at Destiny, Nefertiti is a published poet and editor. Nefertiti’s debut chapbook fist of wind won the inaugural Start a Riot! Chapbook Prize. They’re also a recipient of the 2023 SFF/Nomadic Press Literary Award. Nefertiti is based in Oakland, CA.
