Susan Gabriel joined Cause Effective as a Senior Associate in 2007. She has provided coaching and consulting services to a wide variety of agencies across the nonprofit sector. Susan specializes in building client confidence around resource development, including designing compelling major donor and anniversary campaigns, boosting board fundraising effectiveness, and building vibrant and successful special events.
Before joining Cause Effective, Susan created a new development office as Director of Development of the Correctional Association of New York. She worked closely with the Board and executive director to substantially increase the Board’s success in fundraising, raise the visibility and revenues from its annual gala, and launch the agency’s first major gifts campaign. During her tenure, the organization tripled the size of its budget and staff. Susan also worked at the Citizens Committee for NYC, where she supported a wide range of development efforts, including a $1.1 million annual fundraising dinner, an annual city-wide 70,000-volunteer event, and numerous other fundraising and public events. Before turning to nonprofit work, Susan was a professional actor and holds an MFA from New York University's Graduate Acting Program.
